How Does Professional Fascia and Soffit Cleaning Work?

A clear explanation of what's involved in professionally cleaning fascias, soffits, and bargeboards.

Fascia and soffit cleaning involves working at height along the roofline of the property, cleaning each section systematically. The surfaces are treated with a specialist cleaning solution that breaks down algae and biological growth without damaging the material underneath — whether that's uPVC, wood, or composite. The cleaner is applied and given time to work before the main washing begins.

Washing is carried out with low to medium pressure — high pressure is not appropriate for fascias and soffits as it can force water under the soffit boards and into the roof space. A soft brush may be used on stubborn areas to assist the cleaning process without increasing pressure. The goal is to restore the original colour and finish without introducing moisture into the building structure.

After cleaning, a final rinse removes any remaining residue. We check that any adjacent gutters haven't been contaminated with cleaning products, rinsing them through if necessary. The result is bright, clean fascias and soffits that transform the appearance of the roofline. Many customers combine this service with gutter clearing for maximum impact in a single visit.
