A guide to driveway cleaning frequency for all surface types — block paving, tarmac, concrete, and resin.
Block paving driveways generally need cleaning every one to two years. The joints between the blocks are prone to moss and weed growth, and once established these are harder to remove. Keeping on top of it with regular cleaning prevents the joints from eroding and extends the life of the surface significantly.
Concrete and tarmac driveways are more resilient and can often go two to three years between professional cleans, particularly if they're in a sunny, open position. Resin-bound driveways are the easiest to maintain — their smooth, sealed surface resists moss growth — but still benefit from an annual clean to keep them looking their best.
If you notice oil stains appearing, it's worth treating them promptly rather than waiting for a scheduled clean. Fresh oil stains are far easier to remove than those that have had months to soak in. A quick jet wash combined with a degreaser treatment can save you a lot of trouble later on.
